On the 6th November 2006 the new International Airport of ‘Samana El Catey’ (IATA: AZS, ICAO: MDCY),

also referred to as ‘Aeropuerto Internacional Presidente Juan Bosch (AISA)’ was opened. The airport is new the small village of El Catey 8km (5 miles) from the town of Sanchez at the base of the Mountainous Peninsular of Cape Samana. It serves the province of Samana in the Dominican Republic.

The airport is only a 30 minute drive to the town of Las Terrenas, 40 minutes from the the capital ‘Santo Domingo’ and ‘Santa Barbara de Samaná’, and approximately a 1 hour drive to ‘Las Galeras’.
